Our future innovators were in action! 🚀 Last week, our MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) clubs gathered at the Weber County Fairgrounds for an incredible district competition.

From Sphero Robots and Lego Airplanes to high-stakes Tower Building and Speed Stacking, our students truly put their creativity and teamwork to the test! It was inspiring to watch them tackle these challenges with such enthusiasm. 🧠💡

Huge congratulations to our winning teams on taking home certification and prizes! A massive thank you to our amazing MESA advisors for your dedication to these students. You make these opportunities possible.

Nothing says "school spirit" quite like a Unified Basketball game! 🏀❤️ The camaraderie and excitement were off the charts as Roy High and Canyon View went head-to-head in front of a cheering, full-capacity crowd.

From the thunderous beats of the drumline to the amazing performances by the drill team and cheerleaders, it was a true celebration of inclusion and joy. The athletes truly shined, too—between the lights-out spotlight introductions, the competitive 3-point shootouts, and the dribbling obstacles, it was a night to remember!

Thank you to every student, parent, and community member who came out to support these incredible athletes. This is exactly what the #WeberSchoolDistrict community is all about!

Last Thursday, the halls of the Eccles Community Art Center were filled with the bold creativity of our Weber School District students. We are incredibly proud of every student who participated in this year’s District Art Show!

This event is more than just an exhibit; it’s a "real artist experience" that rewards the hard work and vision of our young creators. A huge congratulations to our Best of Show winners:
High School: Emily Porter (Fremont High) for "Guitar"
Junior High: Kendra Wirth (Roy Jr. High) for "Inverted Bird Skull"
Superintendent’s Purchase Award: Samantha Morgan (West Field) for "Grilled Cheese"

Special thanks to the Weber School District Foundation for their generous support and to our judge, Cole Eisenhour, for sharing his expertise with our students. We are lucky to live in a community that supports the arts so passionately!

Our Burch Creek Barracudas got a special visit from the @UtahMammoth organization this week! 🏒🦣

Our students traded their sneakers for sticks as the Mammoth brought their Hockey 101 clinic to our PE classes. From learning how to maneuver the ball to practicing that perfect shot, our Barracudas had a blast mastering the fundamentals of street hockey while focusing on teamwork and coordination. 🥅

It was a day of pure inspiration. At Weber School District, we love connecting our students with local icons who show them that mammoth-sized dreams are within reach through hard work and heart.

Good luck to the entire Utah Mammoth team as they keep the momentum going in the playoffs! Our Barracudas are officially part of the herd!

Investing in the Future: Finance Day! What does the future of finance look like? It looks like 224 of our Junior High students taking over the USU campus!
Our students spent the day diving into budgeting, stocks, and investing with experts from the Huntsman School of Business. The highlight? A high-energy Stock Pick Competition where students pitched investment ideas to university professors!

Huge shoutout to our top three teams:
🏆 1st Place: North Ogden Jr High (Nike)
🥈 2nd Place: Roy Jr High (Disney)
🥉 3rd Place: TH Bell Jr High (Amazon)

Beyond the numbers, this day was about opening doors. For many of these students, this was their first time on a college campus, proving that their "next steps" are closer than they think.

A big thank you to our CTE Coordinator Kyle Stanger, our CTE department, and USU for making this incredible experience possible!

Fremont High School was transformed into a world-class concert hall as we welcomed the incredible @UtahSymphony for two breathtaking performances. We were thrilled to host over 1,500 students from across all five of our district cones!

The morning session was tailored for elementary students, focusing on the joy of discovery and the different "voices" of the orchestral instruments. The afternoon session shifted focus to our secondary students, providing our middle and high school musicians with a professional standard to strive for in their own musical pursuits.

A huge thank you to the Utah Symphony for inspiring our future musicians and to our dedicated staff for coordinating such a massive, harmonious event!

It was a historic and inspiring day at Valley Elementary as we were honored to host Governor Spencer Cox, First Lady Abby Cox, and several state legislators for a special stop on their post-legislative "bill signing tour." Our 4th-6th grade student leaders represented the Weber School District beautifully, getting a front-row seat to see how the government works at the state level.

Governor Cox turned the ceremony into an incredible teaching moment. He explained the "long and hard process" of how a bill becomes a law—comparing his role of reviewing and signing bills to the "homework" our students do every day! It was a powerful reminder that leadership involves a lot of listening, learning, and hard work.

While the Governor signed several education bills during his visit, the heart of the discussion was about our children's future and the irreplaceable value of books and reading.

Governor Cox noted that Utah is consistently ranked as a top place to live and work, and he attributed that success directly to the strength of our public education system.

If you’re strolling down Washington Blvd or 25th Street this spring, take a close look at those beautiful hanging baskets—they were made by our very own Roy High Royals!

Roy High’s Floriculture & Greenhouse class teamed up with the experts at Plant and Grow Nursery for an incredible hands-on experience. Our students learned the professional techniques behind designing and building industry-level arrangements, and they didn't just practice—they built all 140 baskets for Ogden City!

We are so proud of these students for contributing to the beauty of our downtown. Great job, Royals!

Monday night’s Junior High Girls Basketball Championship was about more than just the final score. It was about the months of hard work from our student-athletes, the dedication of our coaches, and the unwavering support of the parents and fans who packed the stands at Roy High.

The South Ogden Spartans walked away with the victory after a hard-fought game against a resilient Snowcrest team. Seeing the passion and "heart" on that court reminds us why we love our WSD sports programs.
Thank you to everyone who made this season possible. Congratulations to South Ogden on the win, and to Snowcrest for an amazing run!

On the first day of Spring, Roy High School FFA and floral students proved that a small gesture can carry immense weight. Continuing a beautiful tradition, students hand-delivered homegrown daffodils and handmade notes to patients undergoing treatment at Holy Cross Hospital - Jordan Valley.

For many of these students, the project was personal, with several having family members affected by cancer. "This is humankindness," said Julie Steadman, Cancer Center Manager. "May you build on this for the rest of your lives." We are so proud of our Royals for using their talents to remind these patients that they are seen, supported, and never alone.

There’s something special about the way sports can bring us all together. 🏀✨

This past weekend, two of our incredible teams represented Weber School District at the State Unified Sports Basketball tournament, and we couldn't be prouder of their heart and hustle!

High-fives to Team Make Waves from Bonneville High School for a hard-fought overtime thriller against Sky Ridge, and a huge shoutout to Team BLKxGLD from Roy High School for their nail-biting 1-point victory over West Lake! 🏆

The Unified Sports mission is simple but profound: to create an environment where students with and without intellectual disabilities train and compete together, fostering a culture of acceptance and empowerment. These programs are a vital part of why our district is a leader in inclusive education.

Thank you to the coaches, families, and peer partners who make these moments possible.

Roy High Sophomores Receive Signed Books in Surprise "Book Drop" Event

Weber School District continues to prioritize literacy and student engagement through innovative "book drop" events. On February 26th, Roy High School hosted renowned mystery writer April Henry. After an engaging presentation regarding her writing process and the importance of reading, the entire 10th-grade class was surprised with their own signed copies of Henry’s work.

This initiative, spearheaded by District Library Specialist Amy Hall and Roy High Library Tech Specialist Annette Corry, highlights the district's dedication to putting high-quality literature directly into the hands of students. By connecting students with professional authors, WSD aims to foster a lifelong love of learning and storytelling.

Big congratulations to Canyon View School Principal, Scott Fronk, our WAA Administrator of the Month!

Scott is often described as the "heart" of the school community. Whether he is greeting students with a smile as they step off the bus each morning or supporting his staff to ensure they feel like family, his impact is felt by everyone. His colleagues say he is "much more than a principal"—he is a friend, a mentor, and a leader who truly cares about every person in his building. We are so proud to have him in the Weber School District!

What an unforgettable night at our annual Chinese New Year Celebration! We are so proud of the dedication shown by our students at Uintah Elementary, South Ogden Junior High, and Bonneville High School!

This past weekend, students from 1st through 12th grade took the stage to showcase their Mandarin skills and cultural appreciation during our annual Chinese New Year program. Through activities like Tai-Chi, calligraphy, and traditional dance, our DLI students are gaining a competitive edge and a broader perspective of the world.

At Weber School District, we aren't just teaching a language—we are raising culturally competent global citizens.
A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers who have poured their hearts into this program, and to our sponsors like Ocean Mart and Minky Couture for supporting our students!

Stronger Together: Weber Wellness Fair - It truly takes a village, and last week’s Weber Wellness Fair proved our community is stronger than ever! The Weber High Commons was buzzing as families from all its feeder schools joined in for a night of health, connection, and fun.

The highlight of the evening was guest speaker Emily Traveller, who moved the audience with her story of overcoming adversity and the incredible "power of a smile." The commons was filled with energy thanks to dozens of community and club booths offering wellness activities and support resources. The crowds also enjoyed a special performance of "Brian the Comet" by our talented WHS Theatre Dept, and plenty of free food truck treats and Warrior merch!

A massive thank you to our Hope Squads, the WHS PTA, and WeberCTC for sponsoring this meaningful night. We love seeing our students and families prioritize mental health and unity.
